Video Presentation of Teresa Steinkamp McMillin’s “So, You’ve Found Your German Town of Origin … Now What?” Available At FamilySearch.org

Hi Everyone,

I want to send many congratulations to Teresa Steinkamp McMillin.

Teresa’s genealogy presentation titled “So, You’ve Found Your German Town of Origin … Now What?” has been video taped by the LDS in Salt Lake City.  The program is now one of many that the LDS are offering via their web site at www.familysearch.org under the link of “Free Online Classes” on the main page of their site.

I would encourage everyone to visit the main Mormon web site for genealogy research and browse through what you can find within their “Free Online Classes” link on their main web page.  You can’t miss it.  There is a growing number of classes available on a variety of genealogical topics based on ethnicitye.g. English Ancestral tutorials, German tutorials, Polish tutorials, Irish tutorials, Italian tutorials etc.  There is also a significant amount of United States genealogical tutorials that covers a wide variety of US topics e.g. Courthouse Research, Military Research, Civil War Research etc.

These topics are high quality videos in which the speaker presents their topic.  The handouts of the program are also available to see as the speaker is giving the presentation.  This is quite a nice tutorial capability that is available for free.  Most programs run anywhere from 12 minutes to 63 minutes.  These are not little “soundbites”.

Teresa’s program is currently under the category of German Research and is the only one currently there under German Research.

Here is the direct link to Teresa’s video program at the FamilySearch site:

Teresa just recently presented this program at our library’s genealogy program in April 2010.  It was a great in-person presentation and I know it is as good at the LDS site.

For those of you doing any German research that saw Teresa in April 2010 and that that would like to be able to “see” the program again, then just head on out with the above link.  For those of you doing German research that were unable to make the program in April 2010, here is your chance to get some good tips to move your German research along.  Her handout is excellent and it is available at the LDS site.

Congratulations again to Teresa!

We will all enjoy seeing your program again.

Thanks so much again for putting it together and sharing it with us personally in April 2010 and now sharing it again “over and over” again for those who did not have the chance to see you in person.  You did a great job!!
