OUR GENEALOGY PROGRAM SCHEDULED FOR TONIGHT AT 7:30 PM AT THE SCHAUMBURG TOWNSHIP DISTRICT LIBRARY HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO THE HEAVY SNOWSTORM THAT WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND NIGHT.
Larry Olson was going to be our guest speaker and he was going to present a program titled “Social Security Death Index (SSDI) – What’s New?”
Old man winter just has it in for us over the last few years with major storms seeming to occur on the very night of our program.
It just makes more sense to cancel this program early so that no one has to worry whether they will try to make the program later on as the weather continues to worsen.
It appears that many of the library’s other programs scheduled at the library for tonight will be canceled because the speakers have called in indicating they will not be able to make the programs they were going to present.
So it just looks like it is not meant to be.
I apologize for this cancellation and wish we could go on but it just becomes an eventual safety issue for anyone driving to get to the program as the weather worsens and even more snow accumulates by the time of the program.
I will talk to our speaker and see when we might be able to re-schedule him with his great program on the Social Security Death Index (SSDI).
I will also be informing the operators at the library that this program is canceled should anyone call in to check to see if it will still occur.
I would also ask any of you that are regular visitors to the blog to let other friends and researchers know the program is canceled if they do not visit the blog regularly.
Please remember to take a look at the newest newsletter that was uploaded yesterday.
Also look at the newest set of “handouts” that was uploaded yesterday that was intended for tonight’s program.
I suggest that everyone just hunker down safely and let the storm pass by our area.
Just think, you now have been given the gift of some free time that you can do more research!!
We will see you at next month’s program.
