Casa Italia Writing Group Starts Soon; First Program Will Take Place On Monday September 9, 2013 From 12 Noon to 1 PM At The Italian Cultural Center In Stone Park, IL; Topic Will Be “General Writing Prompts”

Hi Everyone!

Casa Italia LogoJennifer Holik has also made me aware that Casa Italia Writing Group will be starting up at the Italian Cultural Center in Stone Park, IL.  They will be having their first meeting on Monday, September 9, 2013 from 12 Noon to 1 PM at the Italian Cultural Center located in Stone Park, IL.

Jennifer has provided me with a link to the blog for Casa Italia that gives information on this new start-up group.  She notes that the group will have programs on the 2nd Monday afternoon of each month at the time stated above.  Program topics for September 2013 through May 2014 can be found at the following blog post from the group:

Casa Italia Writing Group Programs From September 2013 Through May 2014 At The Italian Cultural Center In Stone Park, IL

Researching data is one thing.  Writing about your discoveries is a part of genealogy research that is also critically important to consider.  Your stories about your ancestors are what make them real!

Jennifer will be leading the Writing Group and will be presenting information onItalian Cultural Center Picture each of the varied writing topics noted in the above link for 2013-2014.

Jennifer is making the 2nd Monday of each month a possible “all-day” genealogy event.  She will also be hosting a genealogy program on these 2nd Mondays that starts at 1:30 PM and lasts until 2:30 PM.  The library is also open at 10 AM on these days and closes at 4 PM.

See a previous recent post I just made on these genealogy program activities for Casa Italia Genealogy.

Italian researchers can in one day each second Monday of the month, not only use the library, but also attend a Writing Group Program as well as a Genealogy Program!  Make it a day at the Italian Cultural Center on the second Monday of each month and advance your genealogy and writing skills as well as use the valuable resources at the library at the Italian Cultural Center!

Or just consider attending the genealogy program by itself or just the writing group by itself.  Whatever interests you for that day.  You are not obligated to do all of the things on the calendar for the second Monday of each month at the Italian Cultural Center!  Pick and choose.  But you are welcome to make it a day at the center from 10 AM to 4 PM and take in all of the programs and use the library for the 2nd Monday of the month!

Check out the above link for all of the details about the upcoming writing programs scheduled for September 2013 through May 2014.  See what writing topics interest you.  Make the lives of your ancestors come alive through your words!

Casa Italia Genealogy Group Starts Up Soon; First Program Will Occur On Monday, September 9, 2013 From 1:30 To 2:30 PM At Italian Cultural Center In Stone Park, IL

Hi Everyone!

Casa Italia LogoI just received a notice from Jennifer Holik who has indicated that the Italian Genealogy Group that goes by the name Casa Italia Genealogy will begin offering genealogy programs starting this Monday, September 9, 2013 from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at the Italian Cultural Center in Stone Park, IL.  The center is located at 3800 Division Street in Stone Park, IL.

You can visit the WordPress blog for the group and see the posting that identifies upcoming program information at:

Casa Italia Genealogy Programs For 2013-2014 At Italian Cultural Center In Stone Park, IL

It appears the group will have recurring programs/meetings on the 2nd Monday afternoon of each month at the time noted above.  Do note that the programs are in the afternoons and not the evenings.

Program topics have been identified for the program of September 2013Italian Cultural Center Picture through January 2014.  Details of each of these programs is available within the link above.  Jennifer Holik will be the presenter for the program noted.  Program dates and times have been identified without topics identified for February 2014 through May 2014.

Jennifer notes that the library at the Italian Cultural Center is open right now every Monday from 10 AM to 4 PM.  It appears the meetings are intended to occur on Mondays to coincide with the library hours.  You will be able to use the library before and after the program and you can make a day of it at the center on the program dates.

Take a look at the above link to the Casa Italia Genealogy posting and see what program information interests you.  Browse the site for there are many more links to information on a variety of Italian genealogy resources.

It seems like there is a concerted effort to bring to the forefront for Italian genealogy researchers that these programs and the facility exist as resources to learn about Italian genealogy and tap into the resources held by the library at the center.

If you are local to the area and have been looking to connect to fellow Italian genealogists and Italian research resources, this is the place!

Our Next Genealogy Program Is Coming Up On Tuesday Evening September 10, 2013 At 7:30 PM

Hi Everyone!

I thought I would post this reminder of our next upcoming Genealogy Program at the Schaumburg Township District Library.

There is no pre-registration required in order to attend the program.  There is no fee charged to attend.  Anyone can attend this program.  You do not have to be a library card holder with the Schaumburg Township District Library in order to attend.

Here are the details of our upcoming program for Tuesday evening, September 10, 2013:

The Genealogy program will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 7:30 PM in the 2nd floor Classroom. There is no formal presentation for this gathering. Instead, we will have our breakout group discussions so participants can work within a small group of people having specific interests in a common genealogical topic. The object is to share information and experience on this topic among those in the breakout group.

We are planning on having the same breakout groups we had in our previous breakout groups based on various nationalities. These will be Polish, Czech, German, Irish, British, Italian, Scandinavian, as well as Colonial American. There will also be a Beginners Group as well as a “Share Your Family History Book/Report” table that will allow those that have created a Family History Book to share with others at the table how they created it.

A laptop computer connected to our projector will also be available in the room to use by those in attendance. Participants are also encouraged to bring in their own lap top or net book to connect wirelessly to the library’s WiFi Network. This will allow the user to share information with other participants in areas of genealogical research.

Some of the above mentioned groups may be eliminated if there are not enough participants in any one group to make it beneficial. Some groups that have not been identified may be added.

The doors to the room will open at approximately 7 PM so participants can pick up the handouts, review books and journals and interact with other participants. Tony Kierna, the STDL genealogist, will start the program at 7:30. Introductions of new participants will occur as well as a brief review of handouts and genealogical matters. It is expected that the breakout groups will form at around 7:45-8:00 PM. We will end the session by 9:30 PM.
