I received a notice from the Chicago Genealogical Society about an upcoming all-day genealogical seminar they will be having. The society will present their 2014 Fall Genealogy Seminar on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library from 9:30 AM to 4 PM. The library is located at 500 N. Dunton Ave. in Arlington Heights, IL.
The key speaker for the all-day program is Judy G. Russell, JD, CG, CGL.
Judy will present 4 programs through the day. The program titles are:
- “Don’t Forget the Ladies – A Genealogist’s Guide to Women and the Law”
- “ABCs of DNA”
- “Beyond X and Y; The Promise and Pitfalls of Autosomal DNA Testing”
- “Staying Out of Trouble – The Rights and Responsibilities of Today’s Genealogists”
Judy is known as “The Legal Genealogist”. She authors a blog that you can reach at:
I think this is the first time I am aware that the Chicago Genealogical Society has had a meeting/program in our neck of the woods in the Northwest Suburbs . Correct me if anyone knows different.
Here is a link to the complete 1 Page PDF flyer I received from the CGS. In it, you will find all of the details for this all-day event at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, including the programs Judy will be presenting and the registration form with the different fees that will apply. Different fees are based on whether you are a member of the society or not, your post-marked registration date and whether you want to purchase the lunch that will be offered.
I have also entered this program event into the “Calendar of Local Genealogy Events” page of this block at the top of the homepage.
Here is a link to get you to the Chicago Genealogical Society to check out what they are all about and what resources they have available to you to help you in your Chicago ancestral quest. You can reach them:
Once again you have the opportunity to hear a top-notch genealogical speaker in our area. You can spend the day and learn some new insights about the “legal” aspects of your genealogy research as well as learn some insights into the ever-expanding aspect of “DNA” as part of genealogical research.
Mark the date down. Review the PDF flyer containing the program information and the registration information. Connect with the Chicago Genealogical Society.
This looks to be a great program on aspects of genealogy that we really may not be as aware of as we should be.
