I have been receiving some activities updates from the Swedish American Museum in Chicago, IL recently. Some of the activities may be specifically related to genealogical events or programs. Other events may have a historical context as it applies to Swedish history and ancestry. Some events may be cultural.
I thought I would share with you a recent issue of the November 2016 Newsletter called the Cirkular that I received from the Swedish American Museum.
The museum itself is located at 5211 North Clark Street in Chicago, IL. The phone number for the museum is 773-728-8111.

The Swedish American Genealogical Society has a genealogy program on the 4th Saturday of each month from January to November at the Museum. There is a Genealogy Program scheduled for Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 11 AM to 4 PM. (Probably scheduled on this date and time to not coincide with the Thanksgiving period when the 4th Saturday would fall.) The title of this month’s program is “Meeting One-on-One with Swedish Experts”. Help will be provided by knowledgeable members of the society as well as 2 expert researchers from Sweden and Kathy Meade, a well-known Swedish researcher expert at using ArkivDigital. Reservations for attendance are appreciated.
From the newsletter, here is a description of the program:
“Meet one-on-one with experts for help with genealogy research, translations, and more! In addition to the Museum’s own researchers, two genealogists from Sweden, Elisabeth Thorsell and Ingrid Nilsson and the North American representative of ArkivDigital, Kathy Meade, will be present to answer your questions about Swedish research. Cost is $10 to participate and all participants will be entered in a raffle to win special prizes.
Reservations recommended. Walk-ins will be accommodated if time permits. Call the Museum at 773.728.811 to schedule your appointment.”
