I have been receiving some activities updates from the Swedish American Museum in Chicago, IL recently. Some of the activities may be specifically related to genealogical events or programs. Other events may have a historical context as it applies to Swedish history and ancestry. Some events may be cultural.
I thought I would share with you a recent issue of the February 2017 Newsletter called the Cirkular that I received from the Swedish American Museum.
The museum itself is located at 5211 North Clark Street in Chicago, IL. The phone number for the museum is 773-728-8111.

The Swedish American Genealogical Society has a genealogy program on the 4th Saturday of each month from January to November at the Museum. There is a program scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 10am to 12 noon. Program is titled “Introduction to Swedish Military Records in ArkivDigital” by Kathy Meade. Cost to attend for members of the society is free. Cost to attend for non-members is $10. The society does ask that you contact them via email to let them know if you are attending. Here is a small description of the program from the newsletter:
So your research indicates that there was a Swedish soldier in your family. How do you find the records about him and his service? What will those records tell you? This session will show you the steps for locating your Swedish soldier’s military records. Cost is free for Swedish American Genealogical Society members; non-members pay $10. Reservations are appreciated.
