On May 8, 2018 our library conducted its first ever Genealogy Program via a live webinar. Thomas MacEntee was our off-site presenter of a program titled “How To Deal with Other Genealogists without Going Crazy!”
We initially had some glitches in getting our internal laptop connected to our projector to project the audio through the room’s speakers. But thanks to our great internal IT staff we were able to resolve the issue just before we started.
Thomas’ presentation was presented via a PowerPoint slide show. Once we got started the entire program went off without any problems of sight or sound.
Normally when we have a speaker and that speaker has given us permission to video record the program I do the recording in the back of the room and make the recording available on DVD as a part of our collection for customers to check out.
In this case Thomas was recording the program and has kindly made it available for viewing as a mp4 file on Vimeo. He has taken steps to protect his intellectual property while still allowing the regular user to view the recording.
Additionally, Thomas has also granted permission for me to include a PDF copy of his lengthy handout that is associated with the program. Thank you Thomas for allowing our readers to view the handout.

I asked our audience what they thought of our first ever webinar for a Genealogy Program and they thought it was a big “thumbs up”. I was so happy to have heard that from our audience. There just may be more genealogy program webinars on the drawing board for some of our future programs.
I can’t say enough about the generosity of Thomas MacEntee allowing access to the recorded program as well as online access to the handout for the program.
If you were unable to attend you now have the chance to view the program and review the handout.
If you were in attendance, you now have a chance for an “encore” viewing of the program and pick up some tips that perhaps escaped you during the presentation itself.
Check out the material and feel more comfortable dealing with other genealogists without going crazy!
